Life Underwriting Manager (SO-M level)

About the role

This role involves developing and implementing underwriting and operational frameworks, policies, procedures, and guidelines. You will monitor the processing of New Business and underwriting activities to ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are consistently met with high quality standards, and perform underwriting assessments on both medical and non-medical cases within approved authority limits.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement underwriting and operational frameworks, policies, procedures, and guidelines
• Monitor the processing of New Business and underwriting activities to ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are consistently met with high quality standards
• Perform underwriting assessments on both medical and non-medical cases within approved authority limits
• Collaborate with team leads across distribution channels to identify opportunities for process improvement
• Review and verify customer due diligence, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) requirements in accordance with internal guidelines and regulatory standards
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with distribution partners, including agency, bancassurance, and brokers
• Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and ad-hoc projects as required

About you

• University degree or above
• Professional insurance qualifications such as FLMI preferred
• Minimum 4 years of solid experience in life and medical insurance underwriting
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; self-motivated with a proven ability to work effectively as a team player
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the organization
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
