Life400 Developer

Qualifications and Requirements

• 4–5 years of experience in AS/400 or IBM i application development.
• Hands-on experience with Life/Asia and Life400 applications.
• Strong programming knowledge of COBOL/400 and CL/400.
• Proficiency in DB2/400 and SQL/400.
• Experience in application maintenance, debugging, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Understanding of software development life cycles, testing procedures, and change management.
• Experience in the life insurance domain is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting life insurance policy administration systems.
• Familiarity with IBM AS/400 (IBM i) environments and legacy application modernization.
• Knowledge of batch processing, job scheduling, and database performance optimization.
• Experience handling incident resolution and application enhancements in production environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance life insurance applications using Life/Asia and Life400 systems.
• Write, modify, test, and debug programs using COBOL/400 and CL/400.
• Develop and optimize database queries using SQL/400 and manage data using DB2/400.
• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into effective application solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, production issues, and system performance problems.
• Perform unit testing, integration testing, and support user acceptance testing.
• Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, and other developers to deliver application enhancements and fixes.
• Maintain technical documentation, program specifications, and system support records.
• Support system releases, deployments, and ongoing maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with coding standards, development procedures, and established quality practices.
