Lifeguard

Under the supervision of the Recreation Program Supervisor or designee, this position is responsible for swimmer/patron safety by supervising and or teaching swimmers water safety classes, enforcing swimming pool rules, and for basic pool maintenance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must possess a current Lifeguard certification issued by American Red Cross at time of hire

• Must have, or be able to obtain within six months of hire, First Aid and CPR certification

• Preferred are current Water Safety Instructor and Emergency Water Safety certificates issued by the American Red Cross (WSI required if performing instructor duties)

• Must have High School Diploma or equivalent (GED), exception for full-time high school students; must be at least 16 years of age

• Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license and be insurable by City’s vehicle insurance carrier
