Lifeguard

POSITION: Seasonal Lifeguards for Summer 2027

FUNCTION: Under the general supervision of the Aquatics Director, Assistant Aquatics Director and Head guard, lifeguards will perform lifeguarding duties to protect the health, safety and welfare of the campers and patrons. This position operates Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day weekend.

*Hours available for Winter and Spring Swim lessons*

Beaches and pools are open 7 days a week 9:30am-6:00pm, throughout the Summer. Must be available evenings, weekends and holidays

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Minimum requirements: Possess current certification in Lifeguarding (American Red Cross or YMCA), and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Lifeguard certification courses are scheduled by the department throughout the year.

1. Ability to follow instructions and work with minimum supervision in a responsible and competent manner; to readily accept direction from those in a supervisory capacity; ability to accept constructive feedback; ability to project good public relations.

2. Ability to complete neat, written reports when required.

3. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with fellow employees and supervisors; to deal courteously and firmly with the general public; demonstrate good judgment, tact, courtesy and maintain good physical health.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All lifeguards hired must meet the following qualifications:

*Must demonstrate maturity, be at least 16 years old, and successfully pass the required drug screen and rescue examination.

Pay: $17.51 - $19.57 per hour
