About the Role:

Join the front line of Mountain Operations at Nordic Valley! As a Lift Operator, your primary office is the mountain. You are responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and smooth operation of our chairlifts and surface conveyors while providing enthusiastic service to our guests. If you love spending your days outdoors in the snow and want to be part of a tight-knit team, this role is for you!

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Safe Operations: Safely operate chairlifts and conveyor belts following all operational guidelines and safety protocols. Assist guests loading and unloading in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Area & Ramp Maintenance: Maintain loading/unloading ramps, lift mazes, and work areas through active snow removal (shoveling, raking, and sweeping). Set up and break down daily maze lines, signage, and safety barriers.
  • Emergency & Incident Response: Respond quickly to misloads, unseated passengers, and lift stoppages. Assist with emergency procedures and lift evacuations as directed by leads.
  • Access & Line Control: Support ticket verification, scan passes when needed, and assist with guest line management.
  • Guest Experience & Teamwork: Answer guest inquiries regarding lift routes, trail maps, and general resort info with a helpful attitude. Work collaboratively with your team to maintain a safe and positive work environment.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Ski/Snowboard Ability: Must be able to ski or snowboard at an intermediate level to safely navigate assigned mountain routes. (Limited non-skiing positions may be available based on assignment).
  • Skills: Ability to operate basic machinery/tools, strong verbal communication skills in English, and sound situational judgment.
  • Availability: Must be available to work weekends, night shifts, and holidays as required by resort schedules.
  • Reliability: Must have reliable transportation to and from the mountain in winter weather conditions.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Outdoor Conditions: Ability to work extended hours outdoors in high-altitude environments and severe winter conditions (extreme cold, wind, snow).
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry 50+ lbs regularly, as well as stand, shovel, and bend for extended periods.
