JOB SUMMARY

Performs construction, repair, and maintenance work on sewer and water lines; operates equipment and performs extensive manual labor; reads meters; performs related work as required. Maintenance of drainage features including cleaning, repairing, mowing, herbiciding, and installation of new drainage infrastructure.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Works under the general supervision of the Street, Drainage & Sanitation Field Supervisor or on-site supervisor.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

None.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

• Operates a jackhammer, lawn mower, weed eater, power saw, tapping machine, chain saw, hand tools, light trucks, and assists vactor truck.

• Performs preventative maintenance on tools and equipment.

• Performs minor painting, plumbing, and maintenance.

• Cleans and stocks the truck.

• Loads and unloads various materials; performs yard clean-up and all other duties assigned.

• Assists in installing and maintaining water and sewer lines.

• Assists other departments as required.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Maintenance of City drainage features.

• Performs after-hours standby duty and serves on rotation of duty phone.

• Attendance is an essential function of this job.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED. Must be able to obtain Texas CDL-B within six (6) months from date of hire.

A minimum of six (6) months experience in performing construction work requiring the use of equipment similar to or the same as assigned to this position.
