Lighting Controls Field Service Programmer

Location: New York City, NY (20–30% Travel Required outside of NYC)

About Control Force

We are looking for an experienced Lighting Controls Field Service Programmer to join our growing team in New York City.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges in the field, working directly with customers, and taking ownership of projects from startup through completion. Most work is performed throughout the New York metropolitan area, with approximately 20–30% travel required for projects across the United States.

When not in the field, you'll assist with project coordination, customer communication, system documentation, programming support, and other project management tasks to help keep projects on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Program, commission, and troubleshoot lighting control systems.

• Perform system startups, functional testing, and customer training.

• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and communication issues.

• Read and interpret lighting control drawings, wiring diagrams, and sequences of operation.

• Coordinate directly with electricians, contractors, designers, manufacturers, and end users.

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining exceptional customer service.

• Assist with project scheduling, documentation, customer communication, and project coordination when not in the field.

• Produce detailed service reports and document system modifications.

Qualifications Required

• 2–3+ years of experience programming, commissioning, or servicing lighting control systems.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel up to 30%.

Preferred

Experience with one or more major lighting control manufacturers, including:

Lutron (HomeWorks, Vive, Athena, Quantum)

Acuity nLight

Legrand Wattstopper

Signify Dynalite

Leviton

ETC

Casambi

DMX

Understanding of IP networking, routers, switches, and basic network troubleshooting.

Ability to read electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and submittals.

Experience working directly with owners, architects, engineers, electrical contractors, and commissioning agents.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
