Lighting Controls Specialist

Qualifications

• Read, understand and interpret contract drawings and Factory Submittal Drawings to understand control system requirements whether for design, bidding or project coordination.
• Understand the latest lighting control system technologies including but not limited to analog and digital; stand-alone and networkable; Wireless, 0-10V, Dali, DMX, and theatrical systems; and features like daylight harvesting, asset tracking via Bluetooth, and space utilization. Theatrical not required, but advantageous.
• Understand requirements for integrating lighting control systems with the building management system (BMS) and/or other systems such as A/V, Shading and HVAC utilizing the proper communication protocol and network architecture.
• Ability to present in person and virtually to Designers. Sales experience is preferred but not required.
• Experience working with addressable controls systems and the process of starting up these type of systems.
• Experience troubleshooting low voltage lighting control systems and the various challenges in determining the root cause of issues and the political landscape associated with resolving them.
• Familiarity with Crestron, Theatrical or other high end Lighting Control Systems is a plus.
• Similar experience from Building Management Systems (BMS/BAS), Fire Alarm, Audiovisual, Security fields will be entertained.
• Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• 2-4 year college degree is preferred but not required.
• All of the above are preferred but not required. It is understood that there are different levels of controls expertise and we are willing to invest and train in areas where additional training is needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Present, promote and specify lighting control systems with Design Community (Engineers, Architects & Lighting Designers).
• Provide guidance for recommended device installation and best practice wiring recommendations.
• Create Lighting Control Designs in conjunction with and for Designers.
• Create Quotes, BOMs and scopes for designs and bid/procurement processes. Experience with Bluebeam and Spreadsheets preferred.
• Work in conjunction with other Specification Salespeople/Team Members. Support their controls efforts and reinforce their customer relationships.
• Participate and support Contractors/Integrators and assist with post-sales sales technical support.
