About Moonlight Lighting and Draping

We’re Moonlight Lighting and Draping—a fun, fast-paced, and creative company known for transforming ordinary venues into unforgettable spaces. We work with venues throughout Utah and use lighting and draping to create elevated experiences for couples, families, and friends. From stunning weddings to show-stopping corporate parties, our team is passionate about creating magic with light and fabric.

This position is a great opportunity to get an introduction to the wedding and event industry! We’re looking for someone who is creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about quality customer service to join our crew of Lighting Designers. If you love working with people and want to help make someone’s special day even more magical, this might be the opportunity for you!

What You’ll Do

As a Lighting Designer, you’ll be assigned clients from different venues throughout Utah County. You’ll work with clients to understand their vision, create lighting and draping designs, prepare accurate proposals, and help manage projects from the initial inquiry through booking.

1. Communicate with Clients and Manage Inquiries

You'll be one of the primary points of contact for clients exploring lighting and draping services. Your job is to make the planning process clear, organized, and enjoyable while helping clients determine what they need.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responding to client inquiries and communicating professionally through email and other company communication channels.
  • Asking questions to understand each client’s vision, event needs, venue, and budget.
  • Helping clients understand our lighting and draping services, packages, and design possibilities.
  • Maintaining clear, friendly, and timely communication throughout the design and booking process.
  • Keeping client information, conversations, and project details organized in company systems.

2. Design Custom Lighting and Draping Solutions

You’ll help clients bring their vision to life by customizing existing lighting packages or developing custom designs that fit their venue, budget, and desired aesthetic.

Responsibilities include:

  • Helping clients select and/or customize existing lighting and draping packages to fit their event needs and preferences.
  • Using SmartDraw to create custom lighting and draping layouts for clients who want a more personalized design.
  • Learning and applying specialized rigging techniques to determine design feasibility, identify installation requirements, and calculate accurate pricing.
  • Communicating design options and recommendations clearly to clients, helping them understand what is possible and choose the best solution for their vision and budget.

3. Manage Bookings, Invoices, and Project Details

As clients move toward booking, you'll help ensure their information and paperwork are accurate and complete.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing accurate proposals and invoices based on each client’s selected design, products, and services.
  • Using company systems to enter client information, project details, and pricing.
  • Submitting invoices and proposals to the Sales Manager for approval before sending them to clients.
  • Sending approved invoices and pricing information to clients in a timely manner.
  • Keeping project details organized and ensuring information is accurate and complete as bookings move forward.
  • Reviewing work for missing information, calculation errors, and inconsistencies before submitting it for approval.

4. Prioritize Projects in a Fast-Paced Environment

You'll regularly balance several clients who may be at different stages of planning. Some may need an initial response, others may be reviewing a custom design, and others may be ready to book.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing multiple client inquiries, designs, and projects at different stages of the booking process.
  • Staying organized and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and provide timely client communication.
  • Balancing creative design work with administrative responsibilities and attention to detail.
  • Adapting to changing client requests, design revisions, and shifting project priorities.
  • Taking initiative, learning new systems and techniques, and asking questions when clarification is needed.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is outgoing, creative, detail-oriented, and able to learn quickly. Strong communication and customer service skills are important, as this position involves working directly with clients to understand their needs and communicate design options.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A creative eye and an interest in lighting, draping, design, weddings, or events.
  • Confidence in communicating with clients and helping them make decisions.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to work with measurements, quantities, and pricing.
  • Solid computer skills, including comfort with email, spreadsheets, and learning new software.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • The ability to work independently while also collaborating with a team.
  • A willingness to learn specialized rigging techniques and understand how they affect design feasibility and pricing.

Experience with design software, floor plans, customer-management systems, invoicing, or the wedding and event industry is a plus, but a willingness to learn is essential.

If you’re creative, enjoy working with people, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we’d love to hear from you!
