Lighting Specialist

General Summary:

Processes orders for materials or merchandise received by mail, telephone, facsimile, or personally from a customer or company employee.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Quotes all aspects of lighting and lamps (i.e. job quotes & print take-off, design/build, customer specified lighting projects).
2. Processes customer orders, changes and cancellations as received via telephone, facsimile, mail, customer or company employee.
3. Determines, communicates and documents:

                - pricing (including discount, sales representative’s commission, shipping charges, etc.)

                - delivery date

                - shipping instructions or restrictions

                - anticipated delays

                - any additional information requested

4. Provides customers with pricing and stock information as requested.
5. Responds to customer quotation requests by providing information on price and delivery.
6. Conducts delivery status follow-up by expediting or tracing missing or delayed shipments.
7. Provides customers with basic technical support.
8. Processes customers’ literature requests.
9. Receives and processes customer concerns.  Initiates immediate containment actions to satisfy the customer.
10. Acts as liaison between customer and other McNaughton-McKay activities.
11. Completes and maintains documentation required.
12. Attempts to sell additional merchandise to customer.
13. Creates, implements, and revises procedures and instructions.
14. Reviews engineering and architectural drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with plans and schedules.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

1. Technical degree or course work demonstrating an understanding of engineering or architectural drawings and specifications preferred.  High school diploma required; advanced degree preferred.
2. Two plus years in the lighting market preferred.
3. Knowledge of McNaughton-McKay operations and products.
4. Proven skills in communication, both written and oral.
5. Ability to organize, prioritize and complete tasks at own initiative with minimal supervision.
6. Basic computer skills with MS Office products required.
7. Thorough knowledge of McNaughton-McKay’s business systems required.
