Line Cook

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and professional Line Cook to join the kitchen, full time (40hrs +), at our new-american restaurant. In this position, you will be responsible for using high-quality ingredients, techniques, and tools to execute high level and intricate dishes in a professional, structured, and detailed kitchen environment.  Under the leadership of Chef Andrew, who has spent over a decade working in James Beard awarded and Michelin starred kitchens, you can expect to learn and grow as a chef and individual while building your culinary arsenal. Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Open your assigned station within the kitchen, following strict protocols and assignments.
• Shelve orders from distributors, stock and rotate product, maintaining order and organization.
• Execute your prep list, including daily mise-en-place and garnishes within a regimented schedule.
• Maintain unparalleled cleanliness in your personal presentation, station, and around the kitchen.
• Prepare one aspect of the daily family meal, and do a mid-shift breakdown and cleaning.
• Work service with an extreme attention to detail, speed, and cleanliness.
• Break down and close your assigned station, assisting in other closing duties throughout the kitchen.
• Take direction from the Executive Chef and chef team to maintain the standards of a refined restaurant.

Qualifications: 

• Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
• ServeSafe or Food Handler’s Certification and Illinois Food Allergen Safety Certification
• Rudimentary knowledge of culinary techniques and recipes.
• Ability to remain calm, take direction, and thrive under pressure.
• Diligent work ethic and time management skills.
• Ability to meet the physical and hourly demands of the position, including standing for long periods, lifting up  to 40 pounds incl. up and down stairs, and working 40+ hours per week.
