About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Distribution Line Mechanic to join our Contracting team in Oamaru.

• Working on underground distribution networks up to and including 33kV
• Responding to faults, including taking part in the after-hours roster
• Helping plan and organise work with Supervisors and Leading Hands
• Completing work safely, on time and to a high standard
• Occasionally working away from home on projects outside North Otago

What you’ll bring

• Current New Zealand Electrical Workers Registration Board registration as a Distribution Line Mechanic
• Experience constructing and maintaining overhead and underground distribution networks
• Current Glove and Barrier and Hot Stick registration and certification to 33kV (not essential)
• A full New Zealand Class 1 driver licence
• Heavy vehicle licence classes 2 to 5 (not essential but must be willing to obtain)
• Experience with substation equipment (not essential)
• A strong commitment to safety
• A practical approach, pride in your work and the ability to work well in a crew
• The fitness required to safely carry out the role
• Willingness to take part in after-hours fault response and work away occasionally

Why join Network Waitaki?

• Varied field work across North Otago and other parts of New Zealand
• Good-quality vehicles, plant and equipment
• Competitive pay
• Company health insurance
• EAP service for you and your immediate family
• Ongoing training and development
• Relocation support tailored to your circumstances
• A solid team that cares about doing good work safely
• The Oamaru lifestyle, with the coast, lakes, rivers and mountains close by, and no big-city traffic
