Role Overview:

We are looking for a Linux Engineer with hands-on experience in supporting enterprise IT environments. This role is part of a 24×7 shift-based operations team, responsible mainly for system monitoring, first-level troubleshooting, and timely escalation to senior engineers and cross-functional support teams. The successful candidate will work closely with the Network Operations Team, DBAs, and Wintel teams to ensure system stability, uptime, and compliance with operational procedures and SLA requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Monitoring & First-Level Support

  • Monitor Linux/Unix systems, applications, and infrastructure using enterprise monitoring tools.
  • Respond to alerts, perform initial triage, and determine escalation paths based on SOPs.
  • Conduct routine system health checks and document findings.

2. Incident Handling & Escalation

  • Act as first responder during shift for system or service incidents.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting (logs review, process checks, disk usage, service status).
  • Create and update incident tickets with clear and accurate information.
  • Escalate promptly to L2 engineers or vendor support when issues exceed L1 scope.

3. Operational Tasks

  • Support routine operational tasks such as daily system health checks, update and closing ITSM tickets, user administration, service restarts, backup monitoring, and log collection.
  • Assist in system patching, scheduled maintenance, and system updates under supervision.
  • Follow established runbooks for system checks, failover tests, and recovery procedures.

4. Shift Work

  • Perform duties within a rotating 24×7 shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Ensure proper handover to the next shift with accurate, complete status updates.

5. Vendor & Team Collaboration

  • Work with internal/customer teams and external vendors to coordinate issue resolution.
  • Support implementation tasks and change activities led by senior engineers

Required Skills & Experience:

  • At least years of experience in Linux/Unix system support or operations (RHEL preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of Linux system administration, OS patching, storage concepts, monitoring tools, and ticketing systems.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes.
  • Basic scripting knowledge (Shell, Bash).
  • Exposure to virtualization or cloud environments is a plus.
  • RHCSA or equivalent knowledge is advantageous.
  • Singaporean and Singaporen Spouse (if applicable due to security clearance requirements).

Preferred (Good-to-Have) Experience:

  • Understanding of directory services concepts (LDAP, Kerberos).
  • Basic familiarity with configuration tools (Ansible, Satellite).
  • Exposure to backup and disaster recovery operations.
  • Experience with Pure Storage or similar platforms.
