What they need
🚀 Position: Linux Engineer (Low-Level Systems & Nix)
📍 Location: London / Hybrid
💼 Engagement: Contract Outside IR35 (6 Months, High Probability of Extension)
💰 Rate: Competitive Market Rate
Are you a Low-Level Systems Engineer who loves peeling back the layers of Linux OS primitives, container runtime internals, and reproducible build systems?
We are seeking a Linux Engineer to join a high-impact team augmentation engagement for an enterprise infrastructure transformation. You will work directly alongside an embedded technical team building low-level system infrastructure, custom compute frameworks, and isolated execution environments ("agentic jails").
Key Responsibilities:
- Build Low-Level Systems Infrastructure: Develop core compute frameworks and agent sandboxing tools using native Linux primitives.
- Manage Nix/NixOS Environments: Leverage Nix for package management, software distribution platforms, and reproducible build pipelines.
- Implement System Isolation: Apply low-level primitives to restrict networking, filesystem access, and proxy channels for agents.
- Systems Debugging & Performance: Conduct deep-dive root cause analysis across filesystems, networking, and kernel-level boundaries.
What We’re Looking For:
- Deep Linux Systems Engineering: Strong mastery of Kernel/OS internals, isolation primitives (cgroups, namespaces, seccomp), filesystems, and networking.
- Nix / NixOS: Hands-on experience with Nix packaging, reproducible environments, or distribution frameworks.
- C / C++: Solid proficiency in C/C++ for systems-level development.
- Container Runtimes & Orchestration: In-depth understanding of how container runtimes work under the hood (beyond basic YAML orchestration).
- Desirable: Experience reasoning about and debugging FUSE (Filesystem in Userspace).
Why Apply?
- Fully Remote Flexibility: High-flexibility engagement model with long-term contract extension potential.
- Pure Engineering Challenges: Solve deep OS-level, isolation, and system performance problems—not standard cloud infrastructure administration.
- Domain Open: Industry-specific domain background is not required ; technical depth and engineering problem-solving are what matter most.
Other offers great for you!
