Linux System Administrator

Role Summary: The Linux Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, patching, and ongoing maintenance of Linux systems within the organization's IT infrastructure. This role ensures the stability, security, and optimal performance of all Linux servers, supporting critical applications and services. The administrator will work with a variety of operating systems, including Oracle Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and Ubuntu.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems on physical and virtual servers.
• Perform Linux patching using standard patch management tools, including planning, testing, and applying security updates and system upgrades.
• Execute regular Linux operations, including user management, disk management and package management.
• Proactively monitor Linux systems for performance, availability, and capacity issues, ensuring high availability and system reliability.
• Implement and maintain system security measures, including user permissions, access controls, and firewall configurations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to hardware, software, networking, and system operations.
• Assist with Linux-based application deployments and configurations, ensuring compatibility and stability.
• Manage and troubleshoot Linux printing services, including printer queue issues and configuration.
• Automate routine administrative tasks using scripting languages such as Bash or Python to improve efficiency.
• Integrate Linux systems with security monitoring and log management solutions to support proactive threat detection and compliance reporting.
• Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations and operational procedures.
• Ensure compliance with security standards and company policies across Linux infrastructure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support critical applications and services.
