Linux System Engineer

Location: Remote

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Linux servers including updates, patches, performance optimization, and issue resolution.
• Manage MySQL databases: setup, configuration, tuning, backups, and master slave replication monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Configure and manage firewalls, load balancers, and network routing to ensure secure and reliable application delivery.
• Monitor system health, traffic patterns, resource utilization, and security alerts using standard monitoring tools.
• Implement security best practices, access controls, and periodic system audits.
• Automate repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency using Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages.
• Document infrastructure, procedures, and configurations clearly for operational continuity.

Requirements

• 3 6 years of hands-on Native Linux/Unix system administration experience.
• Strong expertise with MySQL, including replication and performance tuning.
• Solid understanding of firewalls, load balancers, networking fundamentals, and Linux security.
• Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash/Python).
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, or similar.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities and a proactive approach to system stability and security.
• Exposure to technologies like EDR / MDM / SASE etc.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in WAF/APM tools
• Familiarity with automation/configuration tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, Docker, or Kubernetes.
