Wicker Hamilton is working with a respected Silicon Valley law firm seeking an experienced Litigation Associate to join its growing litigation practice.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work on sophisticated legal malpractice defense and complex business litigation matters, with significant responsibility for case management, discovery, depositions, motion practice, and client relationships. Responsibilities

• Manage complex litigation matters through discovery and motion practice
• Defend attorneys and law firms in professional liability and legal malpractice matters
• Handle complex business disputes, including breach of contract, trade secret, and partnership matters
• Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and experts
• Draft dispositive motions, including motions for summary judgment, demurrers, and motions in limine
• Conduct sophisticated legal research and prepare briefs and other substantive filings
• Develop litigation strategy in collaboration with partners and clients
• Communicate directly with clients regarding case strategy, developments, and expectations

Qualifications

• Active membership with the California State Bar
• 4–6 years of litigation experience

Required Skills

• Experience in complex business litigation and/or legal malpractice defense
• Demonstrated experience independently managing matters through discovery, motion practice, and depositions
• Strong knowledge of the California Code of Civil Procedure and Evidence Code
• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
• Strong client communication and case-management abilities
• Based in or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area
• Willing and able to work on-site in San Jose, San Mateo, or Pleasanton

Pay range and compensation package

The anticipated base salary range is $175,000–$225,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
