Litigation associate

A successful Northern Virginia law firm is seeking a litigation associate with 1–3 years of experience. The practice focuses on business disputes and offers substantial legal research, case law analysis, and close mentorship from experienced litigators.

Responsibilities

• Represent businesses and individuals in a variety of civil litigation matters, with a focus on business disputes.
• Conduct legal research and analyze case law and statutes to support litigation matters.
• Draft demand letters, complaints, responsive pleadings, written discovery, and pre-trial motions.
• Manage document review and work with e-discovery vendors.
• Prepare privilege logs and discovery-related materials.
• Independently handle General District Court return dates and trials.
• Handle simple Circuit Court motions and smaller litigation matters.
• Communicate directly with clients and opposing counsel.
• Participate in all phases of litigation with early opportunities for courtroom and trial experience.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of civil litigation experience.
• Active Virginia Bar membership required.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Experience drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
• Ability to manage matters independently and interact directly with clients.
• Local DMV court experience preferred.
