A well-established Houston litigation defense firm is seeking a motivated Litigation Associate to join its General Litigation/Insurance Defense practice.

This position is ideal for an attorney looking to build strong litigation skills while working alongside experienced trial attorneys in a collaborative environment. Associates are given meaningful responsibility, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to manage their own docket with mentorship and support.

Responsibilities

• Manage approximately 20 active litigation files
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal memoranda
• Conduct legal research and prepare case strategy recommendations
• Attend hearings, depositions, mediations, and court appearances
• Communicate regularly with clients and insurance carriers
• Monitor deadlines and ensure compliance with the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure
• Work closely with partners, paralegals, and legal assistants to efficiently move cases toward resolution

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor and active Texas Bar license
• 1–3+ years of litigation experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure (TRCP)
• Exceptional legal writing and research abilities
• Excellent organization and time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities simultaneously
• Team-oriented with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Professional communication skills and a collaborative mindset
