Litigation Associate Attorney

A leading Hispanic law firm serving the New York metropolitan area seeks a highly motivated Associate Attorney to join its litigation practice in White Plains, New York.

Candidates must be admitted to the New York Bar and have three to five years of litigation experience. The position will primarily involve state and federal civil litigation. Federal court admission—or eligibility to obtain admission promptly—is required. Admission in Connecticut or New Jersey is a plus, and admission to the federal courts in Louisiana is highly desirable.

Relevant experience may include judicial clerkships or work with a public defender’s office, district attorney’s office, or similar legal organization. Criminal-law experience is not required but will be considered favorably.

Spanish fluency is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate a genuine commitment to assisting clients, a willingness to learn new areas of law, and an open-minded approach to developing as well-rounded litigators.

Candidate must possess the following skills:

· Must be able to prepare pleadings, motions, and briefs as needed.

· Must be able to appear in various courts, both in person and virtually. In person appearances require access to a car.

· Must be able to direct cases through litigation cycle, review new files for coverage, and develop a cost effective litigation strategy.

· Must be able to think strategically and handle large volume of cases.

· Must be a team player, reliable, and demonstrate ability to work directly with clients, many of whom only speak Spanish.

· Must be able to organize and track case status and assist in the management of attorney court appearances, calendars and client matters.

· Must have good writing and communication skills, ability to prioritize and work under a tight schedule, ability to multi-task, in depth knowledge of legal terminology and principles, and the ability to analyze legal documents for accuracy.

· Fluency in Spanish is a major plus.

· Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Teams/Zoom software.

· Admission to the New York State bar with 3 – 5 years’ litigation experience is mandatory.

· Admission to the New Jersey State bar, Connecticut State bar, Federal District Courts, and/or bankruptcy court is a plus.

· Admission to the Louisiana Federal District Courts a huge plus.

· Competent use of AI for legal research and drafting while avoiding the use of hallucinated or misrepresented case law is a plus.
