Litigation Attorney

Habbas Law is seeking a first-, second-, or third-year attorney to join our litigation team in our San Jose office. We are looking for someone who genuinely wants to litigate cases, develop courtroom skills, and ultimately try cases.

This is an in-person position for a newer attorney who is eager to learn how to handle cases from beginning to end, develop sound legal judgment, and grow into a capable, independent litigator.

What You Will Do

As a litigation attorney, you will work with experienced attorneys while taking increasing responsibility for your own cases and assignments. Your work will include:

• Drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery
• Conducting legal research and developing legal arguments
• Preparing clients and witnesses for deposition and trial
• Preparing for, taking, and defending depositions
• Attending court appearances, mediations, and settlement conferences
• Communicating directly with clients, opposing counsel, experts, witnesses, and other professionals involved in the case
• Working collaboratively with members of both our litigation and pre-litigation teams
• Evaluating liability, damages, and case strategy
• Preparing cases for trial and participating in trials

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

• California Bar admission
• Approximately one to three years of attorney experience, although exceptional newly licensed attorneys may be considered
• A genuine desire to become a litigator and trial attorney
• A strong determination to fight for our clients and achieve the best possible result
• Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Good judgment, common sense, and the ability to think through a problem and propose a solution
• The judgment to recognize when to ask questions or seek guidance early
• A strong sense of ownership, accountability, reliability, and follow-through
• The ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities
• Clear and professional communication skills with clients, opposing counsel, and other professionals
• Intellectual curiosity, a willingness to dig into difficult or unfamiliar issues, and the ability to receive feedback and improve

Prior litigation or personal injury experience is helpful but not required. We are more interested in finding a smart, motivated attorney with strong fundamentals, sound judgment, accountability, and a genuine desire to learn how to litigate and try cases.
