Litigation Paralegal

We are a growing civil defense firm looking to hire a highly motivated full-time paralegal for our Columbus area office. Our office is a friendly, fast-paced environment for the right person. The appropriate candidate will have a 2-year or 4-year degree in Paralegal studies. Experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial case assessments
• Draft pleadings, motions, and appellate documents and file them with the court
• Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics, etc)
• Maintain pleadings and discovery
• Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices
• Aid attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests
• Review and summarize medical records and discovery documents
• Gather relevant information from a variety of sources

Skills

• Proven work experience as a paralegal
• Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules, procedures and practices, etc.
• Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple deadlines concurrently
• Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail
• Ability to review, synthesize and summarize medical and other records
• Capable of interacting with clients directly
• The ability to perform electronic filing
• Knowledge and use of Excel, Adobe, DropBox and other common office programs

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $56,731.00 - $60,458.00 per year
