The Litigation Paralegal will provide critical support to attorneys throughout all stages of complex commercial litigation. This role focuses heavily on court e-filing operations across federal and state courts, managing the end-to-end electronic discovery (eDiscovery) lifecycle, and coordinating trial preparation. The ideal candidate combines technical proficiency in legal technology platforms with a strong grasp of procedural court rules.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, format, bluebook/cite-check, and file pleadings, motions, briefs, and legal documents in state and federal courts (CM/ECF, state e-filing portals, and appellate systems).
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local court rules, standing orders, Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP), and filing deadlines across relevant jurisdictions.
- Monitor court dockets, manage electronic service of documents, and route incoming court notices and orders to appropriate legal teams.
- Prepare motion practice supporting documents, including notices of motion, proposed orders, exhibits, and certificates of service.
- Oversee the end-to-end eDiscovery workflow, including litigation holds, data collection, processing, review set creation, and production.
- Serve as the primary liaison between legal teams, internal IT, external eDiscovery vendors, and opposing counsel technical staff.
- Draft, track, and manage written discovery requests (Interrogatories, Requests for Production, Requests for Admission) and subpoena packages.
- Manage document review teams, establish tagging/coding guidelines, perform privilege reviews, and draft comprehensive privilege logs.
- Prepare rule-compliant document productions (TIFF/PDF conversions, load file creation, bates stamping, and redactions).
- Organize and maintain electronic case files, master exhibit lists, witness binders, and deposition transcripts using case management software.
- Summarize deposition and hearing transcripts; create detailed fact chronologies and issue outlines.
- Coordinate logistics for depositions, hearings, arbitrations, and trials, including subpoena issuance, witness preparation files, and court reporter/videographer scheduling.
- Provide real-time trial support, including handling courtroom presentation software (TrialPad, TrialDirector), managing trial exhibits, and tracking admitted evidence.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required. ABA-approved Paralegal Certificate strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of litigation paralegal experience within a corporate or commercial law firm setting.
- Expert-level proficiency with state and federal CM/ECF e-filing systems.
- Hands-on experience with eDiscovery review platforms (Relativity, Everlaw, Concordance, or similar).
- Proficiency in litigation support tools (TextMap, CaseNotebook, Adobe Acrobat Pro, TrialDirector).
- Advanced command of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
