Job summary

We are seeking an experienced, reliable, and skilled Chef to prepare high-quality meals for a private household in Jalingo, Taraba State. The ideal candidate should be confident in preparing a variety of Nigerian and continental dishes, maintain excellent kitchen hygiene, and be able to plan meals according to the household’s preferences.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

• Prepare daily meals according to the household’s preferences and dietary requirements.
• Plan weekly menus and create meal schedules where required.
• Prepare a variety of Nigerian, African, and continental dishes.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, presentation, and hygiene.
• Purchase or provide a list of required food ingredients and kitchen supplies.
• Properly store food items and monitor kitchen inventory to minimize waste.
• Keep the kitchen, cooking equipment, utensils, and work areas clean and organized.
• Ensure proper food handling and storage practices are followed.
• Manage food portions and household food supplies responsibly.
• Accommodate special meal requests, allergies, or dietary restrictions.
• Maintain kitchen equipment and report any faults or items that need replacement.
• Work professionally, respectfully, and discreetly within the household.
• Perform other reasonable cooking-related duties as required.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working as a Chef, Private Chef, Household Chef, or Cook.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian cuisine; knowledge of continental dishes is an advantage.
• Good cooking, meal-planning, and food-presentation skills.
• Excellent hygiene and kitchen-management habits.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Must be reliable, trustworthy, respectful, and responsible.
• Ability to relocate and reside in Jalingo, Taraba State.
• Candidates with references or verifiable previous household experience are preferred.
