About the role

We are looking for a compassionate, reliable and experienced Live-in Mental Health Support Worker to support adults within a supported-living environment.

You will provide person-centred, recovery-focused support that helps residents manage their mental health, develop everyday living skills and work towards greater independence. You will also help maintain a safe, calm and positive home environment.

This role does not involve personal care. Suitable accommodation will be provided during each working placement.

Key responsibilities

  • Building positive and professional relationships with residents
  • Providing emotional support and a calm, listening presence
  • Helping residents follow their individual support and recovery plans
  • Supporting residents to develop confidence and independent-living skills
  • Encouraging healthy routines, including cooking, shopping and household tasks
  • Prompting or supporting medication in line with agreed procedures
  • Supporting residents to attend appointments, activities and community services
  • Encouraging social inclusion, meaningful activity and community involvement
  • Recognising changes in mental health and responding appropriately
  • Supporting residents to identify and use coping strategies
  • Following risk-management, crisis-response and safeguarding procedures
  • Managing challenging situations calmly and professionally
  • Maintaining accurate daily notes, incident reports and support records
  • Liaising with colleagues, families and mental health professionals where appropriate
  • Respecting residents’ privacy, dignity, choices and confidentiality

About you

You will be patient, emotionally resilient and non-judgemental, with a genuine commitment to supporting people experiencing mental health challenges.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Previous experience in mental health, supported living, social care or a related setting
  • An understanding of recovery-focused and trauma-informed support
  • Strong communication, listening and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to maintain clear professional boundaries
  • Confidence working independently and responding to changing situations
  • A calm and thoughtful approach to challenging behaviour or emotional distress
  • Good written skills for completing support records
  • Flexibility, reliability and sound judgement
  • A valid UK driving licence (preferred but not essential)
  • Relevant care or mental health qualifications (preferred but not essential)
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check and provide suitable references

Full training will be provided for the right candidate.

What we offer

  • Competitive pay
  • Regular breaks and an agreed rotation pattern
  • Paid induction and specialist mental health training
  • Ongoing supervision and professional development
  • Support from an experienced management team
  • Pension and holiday entitlement

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the people we support. The successful applicant will be subject to appropriate pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS check and references.

We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates and are committed to providing an inclusive working environment.
