Working as part of an experienced and supportive team, you will help maintain the highest standards of animal welfare whilst contributing to a progressive organic farming enterprise. This is a hands-on role that will see you involved in all aspects of livestock care and husbandry, whilst supporting a sustainable farming system.
The role would suit someone with practical livestock experience who is passionate about animal welfare, enjoys working outdoors and is looking to develop their skills within a respected organic farming business.
Your Responsibilities
- Providing attentive day-to-day care for livestock.
- Feeding, bedding, checking and moving animals.
- Monitoring livestock health, welfare and condition.
- Assisting with calving, lambing and other seasonal livestock work.
- Maintaining clean, safe livestock housing, yards, handling systems and equipment.
- Keeping accurate livestock and welfare records.
- Supporting grazing plans and pasture management.
- Following organic standards, biosecurity procedures and health and safety requirements.
- Assisting with general farm duties as required.
Essential About You
- Practical livestock experience, ideally with cattle and/or sheep.
- Reliable, observant and comfortable working independently.
- Enjoy working outdoors throughout the seasons.
- Able to work effectively as part of a close-knit team.
- Committed to maintaining excellent animal welfare and hygiene standards.
- Flexible approach during busy periods, including calving and lambing.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience working with sheepdogs or other working dogs.
- Relevant agricultural qualifications.
- Machinery experience.
- Livestock handling certificates.
Whilst relevant qualifications and certifications would be advantageous, a strong work ethic, positive attitude and genuine interest in livestock farming are equally important.
What's in it for you? Alongside a competitive salary, dependent on experience, you'll benefit from:
- A varied role within a progressive organic farming business.
- The opportunity to develop your livestock and farming skills.
- Working as part of a knowledgeable and supportive team.
- Staff benefits and discounts.
- Suitable accommodation available for the right candidate.
