Loader Operator / Storeperson

About the role

This is a Minimum 60 hours per fortnight hands-on role working alongside a small team of usually one to two other people. The position involves operating loaders and forklifts, batching stockfeed products, loading and unloading trucks, general site maintenance, and keeping the facility clean, safe and organised.

Key responsibilities

• Operating a loader to handle and batch stockfeed ingredients
• Following feed recipes accurately, including measuring and adding minerals and other ingredients
• Loading ingredients through the mixing system and into the overhead truck loadout hopper
• Loading and unloading trucks
• Operating a forklift for product and ingredient movements around the site
• Receiving and storing incoming ingredients
• Carrying out pre-start checks and routine maintenance on loaders, forklifts, conveyors and other site equipment
• Identifying and reporting maintenance or safety issues promptly
• Keeping machinery, sheds, yards and work areas clean and tidy
• Following GrainHub Health & Safety procedures and safe operating practices

About you

• Has proven loader or similar heavy machinery experience
• Is confident operating machinery safely and efficiently
• Has a strong Health & Safety mindset and understands the risks involved in working around heavy machinery, forklifts and trucks
• Is willing to follow procedures and speak up if they identify a hazard or unsafe situation
• Can accurately follow batching instructions and recipes
• Has good attention to detail, particularly when measuring and adding ingredients
• Takes pride in machinery maintenance and looking after equipment
• Is reliable, punctual and able to work well in a small team
• Is comfortable working independently when required
• Has a practical, hands-on approach and is willing to help wherever needed
