Heavy Plant Operator

About Jeffries

At Jeffries, we've been improving South Australian soils since 1842. As a leader in organic recycling, we transform green waste into premium compost, soil, mulch, biochar and fertiliser products used by farmers, landscapers, councils and home gardeners across Australia.

Our people are at the heart of what we do. If you're looking for a stable, hands-on role with genuine career opportunities, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced and safety-focused Heavy Plant Operator to join our operations team on a full-time basis.

Based across our Wingfield and Buckland Park sites, you'll operate modern loaders as part of our composting and recycling operations. This is a varied role where no two days are the same. One day you may be feeding high-speed grinders, the next you're loading trucks, blending products or managing stockpiles.

If you enjoy operating machinery, working outdoors and being part of a hardworking team, this could be the role for you.

Hours: 5:45am – 2:00pm, Monday to Friday, with overtime available when required.

What You'll Be Doing

• Operate loaders across a variety of recycling and composting operations.
• Feed high-speed grinders, manage stockpiles and load trucks and trailers.
• Blend products to meet quality and production requirements.
• Complete pre-start inspections and maintain a strong focus on safe work practices.
• Record production information using tablets and digital systems.
• Support the wider operations team to keep the site running safely and efficiently.
• Assist with general operational tasks, including clearing blockages and basic machine housekeeping when required.

About You

You'll be someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and takes pride in operating machinery safely and efficiently.

You'll bring:

• Experience operating front-end loaders.
• A current loader ticket (highly regarded).
• Experience loading trucks and trailers (desirable).
• A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• A commitment to working safely and supporting your team.
• The ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• A current driver's licence and reliable transport.
• The ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening.

Why Join Jeffries?

• Stable, full-time employment with a long-standing South Australian business.
• Opportunity to increase your hourly rate through our Tiered Remuneration System, recognising skill development, versatility and contribution to the business.
• Modern equipment and a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same.
• Career development opportunities across the business.
• A supportive team culture where your contribution is valued.
• Access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
• Team member discounts across the Jeffries product range.
• Be part of an organisation making a genuine environmental impact by turning organic waste into valuable products.
