About the Position

MECU is seeking a Loan Assistant to support our lending team and help provide an exceptional experience for members throughout the loan process. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, is highly organized and detail oriented, and is comfortable working with financial information and documentation.

The Loan Assistant supports loan applications from initial documentation through processing and disbursement, while helping ensure loan files are accurate, complete, and compliant with credit union policies and regulatory requirements. The position also provides administrative support to Loan Officers and serves as a resource for members with questions about loans and other credit union services. Loan Assistant

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will:

• Guide members through the loan application process and help ensure required documentation is complete and accurate.
• Enter and maintain loan applications, decisions, and member information in the loan management system.
• Prepare loan documents and support Loan Officers with loan origination, processing, underwriting, and disbursement.
• Monitor loan applications and follow up on outstanding information to keep the process moving.
• Process title work, financing statements, deeds of trust, and other documentation necessary to protect the credit union’s security interests.
• Maintain accurate, organized, and secure loan files.
• Respond to member questions about loan products and other credit union services.
• Assist with delinquent accounts and the liquidation of repossessed collateral when needed.
• Open accounts and identify opportunities to connect members with other credit union services.
• Provide backup support in operations and teller areas.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required. Two years of experience in a financial institution or related field, or a combination of relevant experience and college level coursework in business, is preferred. Loan Assistant

Pay: $50,000.00 - $56,000.00 per year
