Duties

• Safely operate a range of commercial trucks with manual transmissions, adhering to all DOT (Department of Transportation) and state transportation regulations.
• Drive assigned routes efficiently while complying with traffic laws and safety protocols to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections on vehicles to identify mechanical issues, especially focusing on air brake systems
• Maintain accurate logs of routes driven, loads delivered or picked up, and any incidents or delays encountered during shifts.
• Interact professionally with customers during pickups and drop-offs, providing excellent customer service while addressing their waste management needs.
• Perform routine maintenance checks on trucks and equipment to ensure optimal operation and safety standards are met.

Skills

• Proven experience operating commercial trucks such as garbage trucks, roll-off trucks, or similar heavy-duty vehicles with manual transmissions.
• Strong knowledge of traffic laws, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocol adherence.
• Mechanical knowledge for basic troubleshooting of vehicle issues related to air brakes and hydraulic systems.
• Excellent driving skills with a focus on defensive driving techniques to promote safety on busy routes.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting when loading or unloading containers manually or with mechanical assistance.
• Outdoor work experience in varying weather conditions with the stamina for long driving shifts.
• Exceptional customer service skills to foster positive interactions with clients during service calls.

Pay: $1,350.00 - $2,200.00 per week
