What they need

Company Overview
Growing IQ is an innovative organization dedicated to transforming early childhood education by fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Our unique math programs emphasize whole brain development, leveraging the power of the right hemisphere to nurture young learners’ IQ and cognitive growth during the crucial early years.

Overview

Growing IQ is looking for a creative and academically strong Curriculum Developer to help us develop a new course designed to prepare middle-school students for the Junior Level of the International Logic Olympiad (ILO).

This is not a traditional math curriculum position.

We are looking for someone who enjoys logic, puzzles, mathematical reasoning, critical thinking, and problem solving and can turn challenging concepts into engaging lessons for students in approximately Grades 6–8.

The goal is to create a structured course that does more than simply prepare students for a test. We want students to learn how to reason, recognize patterns, develop strategies, explain their thinking, and approach unfamiliar problems with confidence.

The curriculum will be developed around the topics and skills associated with the International Logic Olympiad Junior competition.

What You Will Do

You will work with our academic team to:

  • Review the International Logic Olympiad Junior syllabus, sample questions, and competition format.
  • Identify the major reasoning skills and concepts students need to develop.
  • Create a logical progression of lessons leading students from foundational concepts to more challenging Olympiad-style problems.
  • Develop engaging classroom activities, puzzles, games, investigations, and problem-solving challenges.
  • Write original practice problems and exercises inspired by the types of reasoning students are expected to use in the competition.
  • Develop teacher lesson plans, student materials, answer keys, and explanations.
  • Create different levels of challenge so lessons can be adjusted for students with different abilities.
  • Help design practice assessments and mock competition experiences.
  • Work collaboratively with our team to test, revise, and improve the curriculum.

Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate may have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Mathematics education
  • Logic or mathematical logic
  • Competition math / Math Olympiad
  • Gifted and talented education
  • Computer science
  • Philosophy or formal reasoning
  • Curriculum development
  • Middle-school mathematics
  • Puzzle or problem-design
  • Critical-thinking instruction

You do not need to have experience in every area listed above.

More important to us is that you are someone who genuinely enjoys solving difficult problems and can think about how to teach students to become better thinkers rather than simply teaching them procedures.

Strong Candidates Will Be Able To

  • Look at a challenging logic problem and identify the underlying thinking skill being tested.
  • Break sophisticated reasoning into concepts that an 11–14-year-old can understand.
  • Design problems that require students to think rather than simply apply a memorized formula.
  • Write clearly and explain solutions step-by-step.
  • Create lessons that are intellectually challenging but still fun and engaging.
  • Think creatively about multiple ways a student might approach the same problem.
  • Work independently while also collaborating and incorporating feedback.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred but not required.
  • Strong quantitative, logical, or analytical reasoning skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Experience working with middle-school students is highly desirable.
  • Previous curriculum-development or instructional-design experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Math Olympiad, logic competitions, puzzle competitions, competitive mathematics, or similar programs is a significant plus.

Why This Role Is Different

We are not looking for someone to create worksheets filled with repetitive questions.

We want to build a course where students are constantly being asked to analyze, question, reason, explain, experiment, and discover.

If you are the type of person who sees a great logic puzzle and immediately wants to solve it—and then starts thinking about how you could teach someone else to discover the solution—we would love to hear from you.

To Apply

Please submit your resume along with a short note telling us:

  • Why this type of curriculum interests you.
  • Any experience you have with logic, competition math, critical thinking, curriculum development, or teaching middle-school students.
  • An example of a logic, math, or problem-solving activity you particularly enjoy and why.

Candidates may also be asked to complete a small paid curriculum-development exercise as part of the interview process.

Compensation will depend on the candidate and the timeline set for the project
