An opportunity for an ambitious, organised person to make a real impact
Are you someone who loves being organised, thrives on making things happen, and takes pride in getting the details right?
Do you enjoy a fast-paced environment where every day is different, where your work has a direct impact on customers and where you can see the results of what you do?
This could be the opportunity you have been looking for.
Marlborough Oysters Ltd is a privately owned New Zealand oyster company with an international reputation for premium oysters, innovation and sustainable aquaculture. We are the creators of the internationally recognised FlipFarm™ oyster growing system, alongside our associated company, FlipFarm Systems Ltd.
Our oysters travel from the Marlborough Sounds to customers throughout New Zealand and to international markets including China and other global destinations.
We are looking for a driven and highly organised Logistics and Sales Administrator to become an important part of our team and help keep our domestic and international dispatch operations running seamlessly.
This is far more than an administrative role. You will be at the centre of the action, connecting production, sales, freight providers, customers and export requirements to ensure our oysters get where they need to be — accurately, efficiently and on time.
What makes this opportunity exciting?
- International exposure – be involved in domestic and export shipments to global markets.
- Be part of a unique New Zealand business – premium Marlborough oysters and world-leading aquaculture innovation.
- Make the role your own – we are looking for someone driven and proactive who enjoys improving processes and finding better ways of doing things.
- Work across the business – build relationships with production, sales, customers, freight providers and international partners.
- Develop your career – gain valuable experience across logistics, export, food production and supply chain operations.
- No two days are the same – this is a hands-on, fast-moving environment where your ability to think ahead really matters.
- Be part of a growing business – join a team with ambition and a strong global outlook.
About the Role
You will be the central link between production, sales, freight providers and customers, coordinating the movement of our oysters from dispatch through to delivery.
You will need to be someone who enjoys being one step ahead; checking the details, anticipating what needs to happen next and making sure nothing falls through the cracks.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinate daily and weekly domestic and export dispatch schedules
- Liaise with production, sales and accounts to confirm order details
- Sales support, assisting with customer enquiries and maintaining strong customer relationships
- Ensure the correct quantities, grades and packaging are dispatched
- Book freight with transport providers and freight forwarders
- Coordinate international shipments, including destinations such as China
- Prepare and manage shipping and export documentation
- Ensure cold-chain requirements and delivery timeframes are met
- Act as a key point of contact for logistics-related queries
- Communicate delivery schedules, changes and delays clearly and professionally
- Maintain accurate information across systems including Fresho and freight portals
- Support invoicing accuracy by confirming delivered quantities
- Assist with food safety, MPI and export compliance requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve logistics processes and administration
- Provide wider administrative support to the team when required
About You
We are looking for an exceptional person who is driven to succeed, takes genuine ownership and thrives on making things happen.
You might already have experience in logistics, dispatch, freight, supply chain or administration. Or you may be someone with strong transferable skills who is ready to take the next step.
Most importantly, you will be:
- Highly organised and naturally detail-focused
- Proactive and comfortable taking ownership
- A great communicator who enjoys working with people
- Calm under pressure and able to manage competing priorities
- Reliable and dependable, with strong follow-through
- Confident with systems and technology
- Someone who enjoys solving problems rather than waiting for someone else to solve them
- Positive, practical and willing to get stuck in and help the team
- Interested in learning and developing your skills
Experience in logistics, freight, food production or export is an advantage — but ambition, attitude, initiative and capability are just as important.
What’s in it for you?
This is an opportunity to join a unique, growing and ambitious New Zealand business and gain experience across an exciting range of areas including logistics, export, seafood, food safety and international supply chains.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Work with international customers and markets
- Be part of a premium New Zealand seafood brand
- Help improve and develop our logistics processes
- Build valuable export and supply-chain experience
- Work alongside a supportive and experienced team
- Grow with the business as your skills and experience develop
- Have your ideas heard and make a genuine difference
If you are ambitious, organised and ready for an opportunity where you can really contribute, we would love to hear from you!
This is a role for someone who takes ownership, enjoys a challenge and wants to be part of something bigger than just a job.
