Logistics Coordinator

A logistics coordinator serves as a vital anchor in supply chain management, overseeing the efficient movement, storage, and distribution of goods from their point of origin to their final destination. They bridge the gap between suppliers, carriers, and customers to ensure operations run seamlessly, cost-effectively, and on schedule.

Shipping & Distribution Management

• Shipment coordination: Schedule and track inbound and outbound freight deliveries across multiple transportation channels.
• Route optimization: Use logistics IT systems to map out the most cost-efficient and timely transit routes.
• Documentation management: Prepare, review, and process critical shipping papers, including bills of lading, packing lists, manifests, and invoices.
• Customs compliance: Oversee international cross-border requirements, custom regulations, and safety standards.

Inventory & Warehouse Oversight

• Stock monitoring: Maintain accurate digital records of inventory levels, ensuring parts or raw materials match production schedules.
• Data reconciliation: Verify physical shipments against system records to identify discrepancies, damages, or shortages.
• Reverse logistics: Facilitate and manage the return process for defective, incorrect, or surplus products from customers back to the warehouse.

Vendor & Stakeholder Relations

• Carrier negotiations: Liaise and negotiate with shipping companies, third-party logistics providers (3PLs), and vendors to secure profitable deals.
• Issue resolution: Act as the primary contact to troubleshoot delivery delays, reroute lost shipments, and resolve customer or supplier complaints.
• Cross-department collaboration: Align closely with internal sales, procurement, and warehouse teams to provide updates on delivery timelines.

Data Analysis & Reporting

• KPI tracking: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) like order accuracy, fulfillment times, and overall freight costs.
• Management reporting: Compile and deliver detailed logistics data reports to leadership to help identify system improvements and cost-saving measures.
