What they need

Site Manager – DPD Depot Operations (Washington / Newcastle)

AllianceNetwork UK Ltd | Washington, NE37 1PR

£2,250 per month (Negotiable as per experience) + up to £1,000 target-based incentive + health insurance | Full-time | Permanent

AllianceNetworkUK Ltd is looking for a hands‑on Site Manager to run day‑to‑day driver and depot operations on our DPD site in Washington (Newcastle). You’ll be the main person on the ground: quick, mobile, and able to resolve issues fast so every driver leaves on time and every route runs smoothly.

This is a full-time, permanent role. Core hours are 8:00am–10:00am for the morning send‑out, with additional time later in the day for evening checks, driver support, and admin. You must be available to travel out to drivers during the day and to take vans to the garage when there are repairs or vehicle issues.

About the Role

As Site Manager, you will be responsible for the entire driver operation on the DPD site, including:

Arriving by 8:00am to start the morning shift.

Completing morning checks on vans, drivers, and routes (vehicle condition, documentation, PDA/scanners, route plans).

Ensuring all drivers are loaded, briefed, and sent out by 10:00am on time.

Managing the operation remotely by phone during the day: tracking progress, resolving issues, re‑allocating parcels, and supporting drivers with customer or route problems.

Travelling out to drivers who are stuck during the day (breakdowns, access issues, high-volume stops, etc.) and helping them complete deliveries where needed.

Taking vans to the garage or arranging repairs when there are mechanical issues, defects, or MOT/repair requirements, and ensuring minimal disruption to routes.

Carrying out evening checks to confirm all drivers are back, vans are secure, and any issues or incidents are logged and followed up.

Handling driver training, inductions, and ongoing coaching on service standards, safety, and DPD processes.

Covering a route yourself when a driver is missing or during peak periods (you must be comfortable driving a DPD van and doing a multi‑drop round).

Maintaining health & safety standards on site and ensuring compliance with company and legal requirements.

Supporting recruitment, performance management, and day‑to‑day driver engagement.

Requirements

Full UK driving licence held for at least 3 years, with a good driving record (essential – you must be able to cover driver routes and take vans to the garage).

Proven experience in a depot, shift, or operations manager role within logistics, courier, or parcel delivery.

Strong experience managing drivers and frontline teams in a fast‑paced environment.

Excellent organisational skills: able to run tight morning and evening routines and keep multiple tasks moving at once.

Confident using phones, messaging apps, and basic systems to track drivers and manage live operations.

Strong problem‑solving skills: able to make quick decisions under pressure and keep customers’ service levels on track.

Good understanding of health & safety, vehicle checks, and basic transport compliance, including dealing with garages and repair schedules.

Willing and able to drive out to drivers during the day and spend significant time on the road when required.

Professional, firm but fair approach to managing people and performance.

Must be authorised to work in the UK.

What We Offer

Base salary: £2,250 per month (negotiable as per experience).

Target-based incentives: up to £1,000 extra per month on top of base salary, based on performance and site KPIs (details discussed at interview).

Health insurance provided.

Full-time, permanent role with a key leadership position on a DPD site.

Opportunity to work with a well‑known courier brand (DPD) in a high‑volume, dynamic environment.

On‑site parking at the depot.

Company vehicle or van access for work duties (including garage runs and driver support) – details to be confirmed at interview.

Pay: £2,250.00-£3,000.00 per month

Work Location: In person
