What they need

Vacancy Summary

At Severfield, we’re creating better ways to build for a world of changing demands.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Logistics Operative - Trainee Loader to join the team at our Dalton, Thirsk site.

Our competitive advantage is our people, and we’re always looking for talented individuals to join us as we continue to transform skylines across the UK & Europe. A career at Severfield presents the opportunity for you to develop, grow, and to feel part of something special, after all, we are all in it together!

Our Commercial & Industrial division designs, fabricates and constructs structural steelwork for a variety of different sectors including commercial offices, stadia & leisure, industrial & distribution, data centres, retail and health and education.

The division has manufacturing sites in three locations: Dalton, Lostock, and Enniskillen. Each has full-service capabilities and modern manufacturing processes enabling us to provide a high-quality product to a variety of different sectors. Each of our sites has its own strong reputation in the market and between them cover a wider geographical area, including Europe. They continue to set the bar high in their highly complex market!

Vacancy Details

We are looking for candidates who will be willing to undertake an extensive training programme over a 3-to-6-month period dependent on your progression where you will work closely with industry experts to start your new career in logistics.

As a trainee loader, your role will be to use a remote overhead crane to move materials off a production line and build the material into packs. Built in a way so they are safe and stable to be transported around our site by a side loader and then onto a trailer for delivery to site. They need to be built so they are in the confines of a trailer’s limitations. No two loads are the same so you will always need to be thinking on your feet!

No experience is necessary as training will be provided, but we are looking for candidates that have strong numeracy and communication skills as well as attention to detail and who are comfortable with using an iPad.
