Logistics Operator

We are looking for a Logistics Operator to join our team at Charter!

This is a practical, hands-on role at the heart of our logistics operation. You'll be operating forklifts, loading and unloading freight, preparing orders for dispatch and helping keep our yard and stores running safely and efficiently.

The opportunity

As a Logistics Operator, you'll play an important part in the day-to-day movement and handling of freight through our Christchurch operation.

Working alongside our logistics and operations teams, you'll help make sure freight is received, handled, stored and prepared for dispatch safely, accurately and on time.

There's plenty of variety, from unloading trucks and containers through to picking orders, handling freight and keeping the yard and stores clean and organised.

What you'll own

You'll take responsibility for:

• Loading and unloading trucks, units and containers

• Picking, checking and preparing orders

• Completing freight and operational documentation

• Keeping the yard, stores and equipment clean, tidy and organised

• Communicating clearly with drivers, customers, suppliers and the wider Charter team

• Following safe work practices, procedures and site requirements

• Pitching in and supporting the team to keep the operation moving

What will help you succeed

We're looking for someone who is reliable, practical and safety-focused, with a positive attitude and willingness to get involved.

You'll bring:

• A current Forklift Operator Certificate
• A Class 1 New Zealand Driver Licence (F Endorsement desirable)
• The ability to operate forklifts safely and competently
• Good attention to detail
• Basic paperwork, numeracy and record-keeping skills
• The physical capability to undertake manual yard, store and loading duties
• Good communication skills and a team-focused approach
• A strong work ethic and the ability to take responsibility for getting the job done

Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, transport or logistics environment would be an advantage.
