What they need
Logistics Trainee - Job Overview:
The Logistics Trainee position provides an opportunity to build a foundation for a career in the transportation brokerage industry. The primary responsibility of the Logistics Trainee is to learn the operational, customer service and carrier management functions of a third-party logistics provider while supporting the daily activities of the Operations and Account Management teams. Success in this role will be achieved through hands-on training, active participation in daily operations, and a willingness to learn, take initiative, and assume increasing responsibility. The trainee will develop an understanding of how freight moves from origin to destination, how carrier relationships are developed and managed, how customer transportation needs are met, and how a successful brokerage balances service, cost, and profitability. Upon successful completion of the training program, individuals who demonstrate the necessary skills, initiative, and performance will have the opportunity to advance into a more specialized Operations or Business Development role.

- Coordinate communication with carriers to ensure shipment requirements and expectations are clearly understood.
- Develop an understanding of carrier qualification, insurance, safety, and compliance requirements.
- Learn how market conditions, capacity, and transportation pricing influence carrier procurement decisions.
Account Management
- Learn how WHY Logistics differentiates itself from other transportation providers and communicates its value to customers.
- Develop an understanding of how operational execution, customer service, pricing, and profitability contribute to long-term customer relationships.
- Participate in customer and prospect discussions as appropriate to gain exposure to the sales process.
- Actively participate in training and seek opportunities to expand transportation and logistics knowledge.
- Demonstrate initiative by asking questions, identifying solutions, and following through on assigned responsibilities.
- Manage multiple tasks and priorities with a sense of urgency and attention to detail.
- Maintain accurate information in company systems and protect confidential company and customer information.
- Work collaboratively with Operations, Business Development, and other team members to support customer requirements and company objectives.
Qualifications:
- Interested in building a career with a growth-oriented company.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.

- Previous transportation, logistics, customer service, sales, or related experience a plus, but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or relevant experience preferred.
