Long-Term Substitute

Summit Academy Independence is seeking a caring, reliable, and collaborative Long-Term Substitute Teacher to support students in Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, and intervention settings. This position is ideal for an educator who enjoys working with young learners, building positive relationships, and helping students succeed academically and socially.

Position Overview

The long-term substitute will provide instruction in multiple classes, including kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade. There is also an option for working with intervention. Responsibilities include teaching whole-group lessons, working with small groups, providing targeted academic interventions, collaborating with classroom teachers, and helping maintain a positive learning environment for all students.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned lessons and instructional activities for students in Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade
• Provide academic intervention support to individual students and small groups
• Maintain a positive, structured, and engaging classroom environment
• Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with school staff
• Follow school policies, procedures, and curriculum expectations
• Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
• Assist with supervision duties as needed

Qualifications

Preferred:

• Current Utah teaching license or eligibility for licensure
• Experience teaching elementary-aged students

Required:

• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and school staff
• Commitment to creating a positive and supportive learning environment

Compensation

• Licensed Teachers: Paid a daily rate based on Step 1 of the Summit Academy teacher salary schedule (approximately $37 per hour).
• Non-Licensed Individuals: $20.00 per hour.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 per week
