Long Term Substitute Middle School Teacher (Maternity Leave)

JOB DESCRIPTION: Full Time Substitute Teacher

Reports to: Principal/Assistant Principal

Start Date: ASAP

The mission of the Permanent Substitute Teacher and Paraprofessional is to support with staff outages and to help with implementing health and safety protocols as well as behavior management strategies in the classroom.

Responsibilities:

• Follow lesson plans provided by the teacher or administrator.
• Create lesson plans (highly qualified candidates).
• Follow health and safety protocols.
• Create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.
• Manage the classroom effectively to encourage participation, minimize distractions, and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student.
• Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, on the playground, and in the cafeteria.
• If needed, develop lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher’s past lesson plans.
• On days when substitute teaching is not needed, support staff members with health and safety protocols and behavior management in identified classrooms.
• Support with duties coverage as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree Required
• Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (preferred)
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead and instruct students of 6th through 8th grade ages.
• General knowledge of several subjects.
• Ability to adapt plans to specific classrooms.
• Flexibility and critical-thinking skills.
• Patience.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
