Lounge Attendant

About Cosmos' Lounge

Cosmos' Lounge is a 501(c)(3) youth nonprofit based in Bradford, PA. We serve teens in grades 6–12 by creating a welcoming, barrier-free space where young people can belong, explore, and grow. We removed cost barriers because we believe every teen deserves a place to land and our community is showing up for it.

What you'll do

• Greet every teen who walks through the door with genuine warmth; you set the tone for the entire visit
• Keep the lounge clean, stocked, and welcoming: tidying common areas, restocking snacks and supplies, and doing light daily cleaning throughout your shift
• Engage with youth during activities whether that's a board game, a pickup game outside, or just hanging out and listening
• Facilitate outdoor play and recreational activities with energy and enthusiasm
• Monitor the space and de-escalate conflict calmly and professionally when needed
• Be a safe, trustworthy person teens can talk to not a counselor, but someone who shows up with consistency and care
• Report any concerns, incidents, or maintenance issues to the Executive Director in a timely way
• Help with opening and closing procedures and light administrative tasks as needed

Who we're looking for

This role is specific on purpose. We'd rather have the right person than the right résumé. You're a fit if:

• You are naturally outgoing, approachable, and genuinely good with middle and high schoolers
• You are mature, and can hold your ground during a tense moment without escalating it
• You are self-motivated and you don't need someone to tell you the floor needs sweeping or the snack bar looks low
• You are consistent and reliable; teens notice when their people don't show up
• You're excited to grow with a young, values-driven nonprofit; this role has room to expand for the right person
• You can be playful without losing authority and professional without being cold

Required

18 years or older · Ability to pass a background check · Reliable transportation · Comfort working with teens grades 6–12

Preferred (not required)

Experience in youth work, education, recreation, or social services · CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain

Compensation & hours

This is a part-time, hourly position. Hours vary based on programming schedule, including afternoons, evenings, and some weekends. Opportunities to take on additional responsibilities exist for those who grow with us.
