Low Voltage Technician

We are looking for an experienced Low Voltage Technician to join the team at Nexus Technology and Security, a small business based in Houston, TX. The company operates in several states, including Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. This role involves installation, maintenance and service of Access Control, CCTV and Intrusion Detection systems in commercial, industrial, and enterprise environments. The ideal candidate’s home base is Houston, TX or Dallas, TX.

To be successful in this role, you need:

• Three to four years of experience with electronic security systems (access control, CCTV, and intrusion detection)
• Low voltage wiring experience
• Ability to troubleshoot programming challenges and follow system instruction manuals
• Experience with systems such as Lenel, Genetec, Salto, and Avigilon, among others
• Knowledge of IP-based systems and basic networking
• A proactive work ethic and the willingness to take initiative
• Ability to read blueprints

A typical low voltage project will require you to:

• Install, program, and/or service electronic security systems (for example, card readers, ACS and IDS controllers, alarm devices, IP cameras, among other things)
• Meet project specifications and deadlines
• Maintain compliance with all applicable safety, quality, and regulatory standards
• Document your work and provide reports, drawings, and images as required
• Provide professional support and quality customer service
• Perform system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance

Other requirements

• Comfortable using hand and power tools, as well as learning how to use aerial work platforms (lifts)
• Proficiency in using a laptop or tablet, as well as word processing and spreadsheet software
• Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings upon and throughout employment
• Clean driving record

Work Conditions

• Travel by vehicle and outdoor work are the norm
• Typical workweek is from Monday through Friday, with occasional projects falling during the weekend
• Walking for long distances, standing for long periods, lifting heavy equipment and materials, as well as climbing ladders and positioning one’s self to install equipment
