Low Voltage Technician

Who We Are
Cable Communications Inc. (CCI) is a family-owned low voltage contractor that has been installing commercial technology systems across Ohio for almost 30 years. We handle structured cabling (Cat6, Cat6A, fiber optic), access control, security cameras (CCTV/IP video surveillance), AV, paging, and Vision/Edge AI for general contractors, developers, schools, and commercial facilities. Our Northeast Ohio office is in Chagrin Falls, and our work covers Greater Cleveland, Akron, and the surrounding area. We’re a small, tight crew, and as we grow we want people who’ll grow with us.

The Job
We’re hiring a full-time Low Voltage Technician for our field team. You’ll do commercial structured cabling and access control installs plus service calls. If you have low voltage, electrical, telecom, or construction experience, great. If you’re new to the trade and want to learn, we’ll give you on-the-job training. Entry-level applicants are welcome. This is not a dead-end job. How fast you move from Tech I up to Lead Tech depends on you.

Responsibilities

• Pull, route, terminate, test, and label Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A data cabling
• Install and terminate fiber optic cable
• Install pathways: J-hooks, cable tray, conduit, sleeves, and firestopping
• Build out telecom rooms: racks, patch panels, cable management, and PoE switches
• Install and service access control systems, including card readers, electric strikes, mag locks, door contacts, and REX devices (Brivo, Verkada, UniFi Access)
• Install IP security cameras and NVRs (Axis, Hanwha, Verkada)
• Troubleshoot with a toner/probe and cable tester, and work up to handling service calls on your own
• Read blueprints, floor plans, specs, and cut sheets
• Follow OSHA safety practices and site-specific rules on commercial construction jobsites
• Log time, materials, and job details accurately in our field app and on paper
• Show up looking and acting like a professional on every site

Schedule & Travel

• Full-time, 40+ hours per week
• Some overnight travel, never more than three weeks per trip
• Weekend hours while traveling pay time-and-a-half

What You Bring

• Low voltage, structured cabling, electrical, electrician helper, telecom, or construction experience is a plus, not required
• Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, and in scissor lifts and boom lifts (we’ll train and certify you)
• Mechanical aptitude and basic hand and power tool skills
• Good communicator who can also work independently
• Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets our insurance requirements
• Your own basic hand tools, or willingness to get them
• Nice to have: BICSI Installer, OSHA 10, Fluke certification experience

Pay: $22.00 - $29.00 per hour
