Low Voltage Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Low Voltage Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing low voltage systems across various facilities. Your expertise will ensure the seamless operation of critical communication and security systems, including CCTV, fiber optics, networking infrastructure, and telecommunication equipment. Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot low voltage systems such as CCTV cameras, access control, intercoms, VoIP telephony, and fiber optic cabling.
• Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to accurately complete installations and repairs.
• Perform network installation tasks including Ethernet cabling (Cat5, Cat6), LAN setup, and network wiring for data centers or office environments.
• Conduct fiber splicing and testing using diagnostic tools to ensure optimal signal integrity and system performance.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, multimeters (Ohmmeters), and other diagnostic equipment to diagnose electrical issues in AC/DC systems.
• Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, installation procedures, repairs, and maintenance logs.
• Provide field service support by troubleshooting equipment failures and performing repairs on Cisco routers, Juniper devices, Avaya systems, and other telecommunication hardware.
• Ensure compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards and safety protocols during all installation and maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with clients to deliver excellent customer service by explaining system functions and providing technical support as needed.
• Assist in the testing of radio frequency (RF) signals for wireless communication systems and perform routine inspections for security or telecommunication setups.

Experience

• Proven experience as a Low Voltage Technician or Service Technician working with low voltage electrical systems in commercial or data center environments.
• Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including LAN/WAN setup, Ethernet cabling (Cat5/Cat6), network wiring practices, and network hardware such as Cisco routers and Juniper equipment.
• Hands-on experience with CCTV installation, fiber splicing techniques, VoIP telephony systems like Avaya or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with schematics interpretation, electrical wiring standards (NEC), and the use of diagnostic tools for troubleshooting complex systems.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently in the field while maintaining high safety standards using hand tools and power tools effectively.
• Prior experience working with telecommunication infrastructure within data centers or large commercial facilities is highly desirable.
• Excellent customer service skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving in fast-paced environments.
