Center for Latino Adolescent and Family Health at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing
Title of Position: LPN Clinical Research Coordinator
The Center for Latino Adolescent and Family Health’s (CLAFH’s) mission is to eliminate health inequities and promote overall wellbeing among Latino adolescents and their families. While our work is Latino-focused, our research and resources are applicable to initiatives aimed at ending inequities for other groups. CLAFH’s core work focuses on developing, evaluating, and disseminating family-based interventions and nurse-driven models of health care delivery designed to mitigate harmful social determinants of health, eliminate health inequities, increase Latino engagement in health care, and promote life opportunities. For more information about our center, please see our website.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities
The LPN Clinical Research Coordinator will oversee the day-to-day implementation of CLAFH's community-based behavioral health and prevention programs, with a focus on coordinating field operations, supervising research and program staff, and supporting the delivery of nurse-led and family-centered services. The position will involve direct engagement with adolescents, young adults, and families, primarily in the South Bronx.
The LPN Clinical Research Coordinator will:
- Oversee daily field operations and implementation of community-based health and prevention programs, including home visits, community outreach, screening, prevention education, and referral and linkage to services.
- Coordinate and supervise field-based research and program staff, including community health workers, family coaches, and other personnel involved in program implementation.
- Develop and coordinate staff schedules, field assignments, training activities, and ongoing supervision to ensure timely and effective program delivery.
- Perform clinical duties within the scope of LPN licensure, including health screenings, patient education, documentation, and other nursing services under appropriate clinical supervision.
- Oversee participant recruitment, enrollment, retention, follow-up, and fidelity to evidence-based and community-derived intervention protocols.
- Support nurse-led care coordination, including identifying participant health and social needs, facilitating referrals, and following up with families to support engagement in appropriate services.
- Coordinate with community partners, health care providers, and social service organizations to support program implementation and strengthen referral and linkage processes.
- Monitor program activities, service delivery, and staff performance to ensure adherence to project protocols, quality standards, and funder requirements.
- Work collaboratively with project leadership and evaluation staff to ensure accurate and timely collection, documentation, and reporting of participant and program data.
- Assist with continuous quality improvement activities, identifying implementation challenges and opportunities to strengthen program reach, engagement, and service delivery.
- Ensure adherence to relevant confidentiality, participant protection, ethical, and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and applicable human subjects research protocols.
- Support preparation for project meetings, staff trainings, site visits, and other program-related activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of CLAFH's community-based research and intervention programs.
