Role Overview
The Living Quarters (LQ) Engineer is responsible for the technical coordination, architectural design review, and package delivery of the Living Quarters module for FPSO conversion and newbuild projects. Based in Shanghai, this role manages technical interfaces across engineering contractors, outfitting vendors, shipyards, and clients, ensuring the accommodation block meets project schedules, cost targets, Class rules, ergonomics, and offshore safety standards.
Key Responsibilities are but not limited to:

- Fabrication & Refurbishment Scopes: Perform site surveys and inspections at candidate vessels or fabrication yards; define refurbishment, modification, and life-extension scopes for existing accommodation spaces or modular add-ons.
- Compliance & Class Coordination: Ensure full compliance with Client Basis of Design, Class Society rules (e.g., ABS, DNV, BV), statutory standards (SOLAS, IMO, MLC 2006, CAP 437 for helidecks), and project safety study recommendations (fire/blast ratings, acoustic, and vibration analysis).
- Multi-Discipline & Interface Management: Act as the central technical coordinator between the LQ discipline and Marine, Hull, Topsides, Piping, HVAC, EIT, and Telecom teams to resolve spatial and interface clashes.
- Yard & Commissioning Support: Provide on-site engineering support at Chinese shipyards and fabrication facilities; resolve technical queries (TQ/NCR), participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT) for critical packages, and assist with mechanical completion through pre-commissioning.
- QHSSE: Uphold corporate quality, health, safety, and environmental standards; actively participate in hazard identification, risk assessments, and continuous improvement processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Architecture, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5–7 years of offshore engineering experience, with a focused background in Living Quarters design, architectural outfitting, or accommodation refurbishment for FPSO / offshore oil & gas units.
- Proven track record in reviewing and approving contractor/vendor specifications, material take-offs (MTO), architectural systems, and outfitting schedules.
- Proficient in Navisworks (model review, clash checking), AutoCAD, MS Excel, and MS Word.
