What they need

Systems Administrator – IT Department

Balderston Auto Group | Full-Time

Who We Are

At Balderston Auto Group, our purpose is simple: A family committed to excellence, growth, and harmony.

Our values guide how we treat each other, our customers, and our community:

  • Develop a team culture guided by integrity
  • Build employee satisfaction through leading and serving with compassion
  • Create life-long relationships with our customers
  • Be a positive and reliable partner in the community

We hire for character as much as skill. Technical ability can be taught and sharpened, but the way you treat people and the way you do your work are what makes someone part of the Balderston family.

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on Systems Administrator to keep our dealerships running smoothly and securely. You'll support every department, including sales, service, parts, F&I, and accounting, across multiple locations. You'll handle server upgrades, strengthen our security, manage multifactor authentication, and resolve everyday technical issues. You'll also be a trusted, patient resource for coworkers who depend on technology to serve our customers.

How Our Values Show Up in This Role

  • Integrity: You'll have administrator access to sensitive systems and customer data. We need someone who does the right thing when no one is watching, protects the trust that comes with that access, and speaks up about mistakes and risks.
  • Leading and serving with compassion: Your coworkers are your customers. You stay calm when someone is frustrated, explain things without talking down to anyone, and treat every issue as important to the person experiencing it.
  • Life-long customer relationships: Protecting customer information and keeping systems reliable is how IT helps earn customer trust. When our systems work, our people can focus on our customers.
  • Reliable partner: You follow through, communicate clearly, and are someone the team can count on, especially during upgrades, outages, and busy days.

What You'll Do

  • Plan, test, and carry out system upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal disruption to daily operations.
  • Maintain and monitor our Windows Server environment, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file and print services.
  • Administer Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Entra ID (Azure AD), and Intune, covering user setup, licensing, and permissions.
  • Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot multifactor authentication for all staff, and patiently help employees enroll and recover access.
  • Support security measures such as endpoint protection, email filtering, firewall rules, backups, and access reviews, in line with the FTC Safeguards Rule and other dealership compliance requirements.
  • Provide first- and second-level break/fix support for desktops, laptops, printers, phones, tablets, network devices, and shop equipment.
  • Onboard and offboard employees, including account creation, hardware setup, and removing access on the employees’ last day, so new team members feel welcomed and ready on day one.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for IT vendors and service providers, including our DMS provider [Dealertrack], internet and phone carriers, managed service providers, and hardware and software suppliers.
  • Manage vendor relationships by tracking support tickets, holding vendors accountable to service agreements, escalating unresolved issues, and communicating status updates to affected staff.
  • Maintain documentation for systems, procedures, and asset inventory.
  • Travel between dealership locations as needed.
  • Lead IT projects such as server upgrades, new location buildouts, system rollouts, and hardware refreshes: define scope, build timelines, coordinate with department managers, vendors, and keep stakeholders updated through completion.

Who You Are

  • You're honest and dependable, and you take ownership of your work.
  • You enjoy helping people and are patient with coworkers of all technical skill levels.
  • You're committed to growth, both your own and the teams, and you're always learning.
  • You work well as part of a team and help keep a positive, collaborative atmosphere.
  • You take pride in doing things right, not just getting them done.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience in systems administration or IT support.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Effective prioritization and time management techniques
  • Experience implementing and supporting MFA and basic security best practices.
  • Solid troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPN, Wi-Fi).
  • Ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical staff.
  • Strong organization and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Nice to Have

  • Automotive dealership experience or familiarity with a DMS.
  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., MS-102, AZ-104, MD-102) or CompTIA A+, Network+, and/or Security+.
  • Experience with virtualization (Hyper-V), backup solutions, or PowerShell scripting.
  • Experience with Cisco equipment and software.
  • Familiarity with the FTC Safeguards Rule or other data privacy regulations.

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match]
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Employee discounts on vehicles, parts, and service
  • Ongoing training and certification support, because we believe in growing our people
  • A family culture where you'll be known, valued, and supported

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8–5, with occasional after-hours work for upgrades and emergencies
