SUMMARY: Machine Assistant - Unit Roller Handling POSITION INFO: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with the loading, unloading, positioning and alignment of roller units and materials. Safely assist with the installation and removal of rollers using appropriate lifting equipment. Support the feeding of materials through the machine and monitor the process for irregularities. Conduct basic cleaning and housekeeping around rollers and machinery. Inspect rollers for visible wear, damage, scratches, debris or misalignment and report defects to the Supervisor/Foreman. Assist with basic lubrication and routine maintenance activities as instructed. Operate or assist with the use of forklifts, overhead cranes, pallet jacks and other material-handling equipment, where authorised and appropriately trained. Ensure materials and roller units are stored and handled safely. Follow all prescribed SHE, machine safety, PPE, lifting and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Maintain a clean and safe working area. Report unsafe conditions, equipment defects and incidents immediately. Perform any other reasonable duties related to the operational requirements of the department. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Grade 12 or equivalent will be advantageous. 1-2 years' working experience in a manufacturing, production, machine-assistance or material-handling environment will be advantageous. Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and moving machinery. Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Good understanding of workplace safety requirements. Physically fit and able to perform manual handling activities. Forklift and/or overhead crane experience or certification will be advantageous.
