Machine Builder – Automation Location: Novi, MI

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Machine Builders to join our team. This is a long-term contract opportunity with openings available on both day and night shifts . Candidates will be responsible for the mechanical assembly, installation, and build of custom automation equipment and production systems.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with a leading automation integrator on cutting-edge manufacturing projects with consistent hours and long-term stability.

Responsibilities

• Assemble custom automation machinery from engineering drawings and blueprints
• Install mechanical components including conveyors, fixtures, tooling, and robotic equipment
• Read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings and layout prints
• Perform precision machine alignment, leveling, and mechanical adjustments
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during machine build and commissioning
• Assist with equipment tear-down, installation, modifications, and startup activities
• Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and lifting equipment safely
• Work closely with electricians, controls engineers, and project teams to complete machine builds on schedule
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment while following all customer safety procedures

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building custom automation equipment, machine tools, or assembly systems
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and assembly drawings
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
• Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and precision measuring equipment
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Must be dependable, safety-focused, and quality-oriented

Preferred Experience

• Automotive automation or machine tool experience
• Experience working for automation integrators or OEMs
• Forklift, scissor lift, or aerial lift experience is beneficial
