Machine Builder/Automation Technician

Outpost Automation is seeking a Machine Builder / Automation Technician to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role focused on building, wiring, testing, and supporting custom industrial automation systems and machinery.

The ideal candidate enjoys solving problems, working with both mechanical and electrical systems, and taking pride in building quality equipment from the ground up.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and build custom automation equipment and machine systems
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and panel layouts
• Wire industrial control panels and machine-mounted electrical devices
• Install sensors, motors, pneumatic components, actuators, and other automation hardware
• Assist with machine testing, troubleshooting, and startup activities
• Support equipment installation and service at customer facilities as needed

Qualifications

Preferred:

• Experience building industrial machinery, automation equipment, control panels, or related systems
• Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
• Familiarity with industrial controls, motors, sensors, relays, VFDs, and pneumatics
• Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude
• Ability to use common hand and power tools
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally

Bonus Skills:

• Electrical license
• PLC troubleshooting experience
• Engineering or Mechatronics Associate degree
• Industrial maintenance experience
• Design experience using Autodesk Inventor
• Welding, fabrication, or machining experience
• Control panel assembly experience

About Outpost Automation

This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects and develop skills across mechanical assembly, electrical controls, machine building, and automation.

Pay: $25.00 - $50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 50.0 per week
