Machine Driver

Montale Recycling is a growing waste and recycling company based in Barking, Essex. We are looking for a reliable, hardworking and physically fit Machine Operative to join our team.

This is a hands-on role involving general yard duties, sorting and handling waste materials, as well as operating machinery within the recycling yard.

Previous experience within the waste or recycling industry would be beneficial but is not essential. However, candidates should ideally have previous experience operating plant or machinery.

Main Duties

Your responsibilities will include:

• Operating plant and machinery safely within the recycling yard.
• Loading and unloading waste and recyclable materials.
• Sorting and separating different waste streams.
• Moving and organising materials around the yard.
• Loading recycling and waste materials into appropriate containers.
• Assisting with incoming and outgoing vehicle loads.
• Carrying out general yard duties.
• Keeping the yard clean, tidy and organised.
• Carrying out basic daily checks on machinery before use.
• Reporting any machinery defects or maintenance issues.
• Identifying and reporting prohibited or unsuitable waste.
• Working alongside drivers and other members of the yard team.
• Following all site health and safety procedures.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for someone who:

• Is physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual work.
• Has experience operating plant or machinery.
• Is reliable, punctual and hardworking.
• Can work independently as well as part of a team.
• Has a good understanding of workplace health and safety.
• Is willing to carry out both machine-operating and general yard duties.
• Previous experience within a recycling centre, waste transfer station, skip company, scrap yard or similar environment would be beneficial but is not essential.
• Relevant plant or machinery tickets/certificates would be beneficial.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday: 7:00am – 6:00pm
Saturday: 8:00am – 2:00pm

Salary

Starting amount £150 per day
